We are proud to announce that our PGA Professional Coach, Stanley Garland, has qualified for the English PGA Championships taking place this week! Stanley will be competing in a field of 144 top players in a three-round strokeplay format at Bowood from July 16-18.

On Wednesday 3rd June at 2pm, Stanley will be hosting another Academy Member, Ladies & Learn to Play Texas Scramble Event, over 9 holes, free of charge.
This is open to the following players;
- Past & Present 'Learn to Play' students
- Academy Members
- Lady Members
- Golfers with a Lesson package with Stanley

This will be a fun filled 9 hole event. You and your team will complete 9 holes in Texas Scramble format and then all meet in the function room after for the presentation and some tea/coffee if you fancy! This will be a great chance to meet new golfers, get out on the golf course and experience a little competition, and I would love to see you there!

You don't need a full team, just yourself, Stanley will devise the teams on Tuesday 2nd July and have them ready for you on the Wednesday! There is a maximum of 30 spaces so please be quick to sign up if you'd like to play!

WHAT IS TEXAS SCRAMBLE?
In its purest, simplest form, all members of the team get the chance to hit every shot. After all have teed off, the team decides which drive is the best. From there, all members of the team place their golf balls where the chosen drive ended up, with all members playing a second shot from this spot. From these second shots, one is chosen and all play a third shot from there - and so on until the ball is holed. Each team returns one score for each hole and the team with the lowest score for the round wins.
Therefore, hitting a bad shot doesn't matter so much and you are all cheering on one another as a team!

What an exciting sporting weekend we’ve just had! Rory came so close, and the Euros are well underway.

We've all tried to add more distance to our golf shots at some point, whether through strength training, speed sticks, or just the classic “Grip and Rip” method.

Some impressive golf from Kane Tonge lately has not only seen his handicap drop from 16 to 10 in the 2 months we’ve worked together, but he’s followed that up with a hole-in-one on the 186-yard 10th hole at Wickham Park Golf Club! A purely struck 5 iron into the green ended its journey at the bottom of the cup!

How many times have you hit a great drive that’s put you in position A, but fluff your lines and end up missing the green from inside 90 yards?

Many of my students tell me that their short game is fine, “it’s just the driver I need to focus on.” This may be true, but how many times do you hit driver in a round, 12 times perhaps?

Now that so many of you have access to Arccos data and for those of you who have 1-2-1 lessons with me through Skillest, there’s no hiding. After every round, I can see where your game is lacking with the new integration feature.

So, what is the difference between a chip and a pitch? Well, in today’s video, we look at the simple difference that will help define the two.

Last weekend was amazing! I’m so proud to share that Junior Academy Member, Giovanni Tourino, won the first Hero’s Handshake award of the year, thanks to Golf Ambassadors, England Golf, and Hampshire Golf.

Gio competed in Future Champions Tour Events last year and raised over £300 and used the funds to gift each young player golf balls and a medal, and to supply the winners' trophies at the grand final of the 2023 tour.

Watching Gio grow, gain confidence, and give back to the community has been amazing. Moments like these remind me why I love coaching and working with young talent. Thank you so much for your kind words, Gio!

This years Junior, Ladies & Family Christmas Away day will be on Wednesday 20th December 2023 at Ampfield Par 3 G&CC in Romsey, with tee times from 11am.

Where and When?
- Ampfield Par 3 G&CC, Romsey
- Wednesday 20th December 2023
- First tee time at 11am

Format and Details?
- Texas Scramble, teams of 3 or 4.
- Forward tees for Juniors/Beginners
- Drinks beforehand and Sandwiches and Chips after the round.
- Prize presentation up to 5th Place
- 3 x Nearest the Pins
- 3 x Longest Putts, along with a few other on course challenges.

Keeping it fun even if you’re playing bad????

Everyone is welcome, however, you must have a junior in your team, if you don't have a full team, you can enter as a single or pair and I will put you alongside another pair or singleton depending on numbers.
